1. Summary

• Free web identification does not require an account or email address.
• Photos you upload for free identification, and the AI results we generate, are published to our public gallery, which is viewable by anyone and may be indexed by search engines.
• We limit free tries using a salted hash of your IP address, not the raw IP.
• We use analytics tools to understand traffic and improve the product.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Free web identification

When you use free identification on pages such as /try or our free tool pages, we process:

• Photos you upload. Images are sent to our AI provider to generate an identification and estimated value range. Successful results (including the photo) are stored and published publicly in the gallery.
• Identification results. Name, type, material, gemstone, estimated carat and weight, origin, era, value range, design description, historical significance, rarity, grading, confidence, notes, caveats, and related metadata.
• Usage limits. A salted hash of your IP address and a free-try counter so we can enforce the free identification limit (currently three successful tries per visitor). We do not store your raw IP for this purpose.
• Browser local storage. A small value on your device so the free-try UI can show usage quickly. The server count is authoritative.

2.2 Website and analytics

Like most websites, we and our providers may collect technical information such as pages visited, approximate location derived from network data, device and browser type, referrer, and similar usage metrics. We use services including Vercel Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics for this purpose.

2.3 Mobile app

If you use the Jewelio app on the App Store, Apple may process purchase, subscription, and diagnostic data under Apple's terms. In-app features may process photos you choose to analyze. App Store campaign links may include provider and campaign tokens so Apple can attribute installs. For app-specific data practices, also review any privacy details shown on our App Store listing.

2.4 What we do not collect on free web tools

Free web identification does not require a name, email address, or account. Do not upload photos that contain faces, documents, or other personal information you would not want made public.

3. Public gallery (important)

Free identification on the website is designed so that your uploaded photo and the generated identification result may be published to our public gallery at /gallery.

• Gallery entries are publicly accessible on the internet without login.
• Entries may appear in our sitemap and can be crawled or indexed by search engines.
• Photos are stored with a public URL (for example via our object storage provider).
• Gallery content may be used to demonstrate the product, improve our services, and for related marketing or SEO purposes.

If you do not want a photo or result to appear publicly, do not use the free web identification feature. Prefer the mobile app or other channels where public publication is not part of the free web workflow, subject to that product's own terms.

4. How we use information

• Provide AI jewelry identification and value estimates.
• Publish free web results to the public gallery as described above.
• Enforce free-try limits and prevent abuse.
• Operate, secure, debug, and improve the website and app.
• Measure traffic, campaigns, and product performance.
• Comply with law and protect our rights and users.

5. How we share information

We share information with service providers that help us run the product, including:

• AI providers (for example OpenAI) that process uploaded images to generate identifications.
• Hosting and storage providers (for example Vercel, database and blob storage) that host the site, gallery images, and related data.
• Analytics providers such as Vercel Analytics and Ahrefs.
• The public internet when gallery content is published.
• Authorities or other parties when required by law or to protect safety and rights.

We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly understood. Public gallery content is intentionally public.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for essential site function, theme preferences, analytics, and free-try UI state. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some technologies may affect site features.

7. Data retention

• Public gallery entries and images may be retained indefinitely while the gallery is offered, unless we remove them or you make a valid removal request we approve.
• Free-try IP hashes and counters are retained as needed to enforce limits and prevent abuse.
• Analytics data is retained according to each provider's settings and practices.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the service. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. Because free web uploads become public gallery content, treat free identification as a public contribution, not a private vault.

9. Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). Do not use free identification to upload photos of children or children's personal information.

10. International users

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those locations may have different data protection laws than your home country.

11. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, or to object to certain processing. For free web use, we often hold little or no direct identity data about you. If you want a gallery photo removed, contact us with the gallery URL and enough detail for us to locate the entry. We may decline or limit requests where content is not personal data, where we cannot verify the request, or where retention is permitted or required.

12. Third-party links and services

Our site may link to the App Store, social platforms, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the services after changes means you accept the updated policy.
